APT® AND UPP® PIPE: S L O P E
As a common recommended practice, underground piping can be sloped back to
underground tank for natural drainage of fuel inside pipe to drain back to the tank.
Franklin Electric does not require the sloping of APT® XP piping as a warranty or
installation requirement but recommends the sloping of pipe at 1⁄8" per ft as a
best practice. The sloping or non-sloping of piping is to be determined by Certified
APT® XP or UPP® installer at time of installation and reflect any local code or
marketer preference. Vapor return lines should have a slope of 1⁄4" per ft (2 m every
100 m) and never less than 1⁄8" per ft (1 m every 100 m) back towards the tank farm,
unless in-line joints such as elbows are to be used. Trench corners should have a
radius of 5' (1.5 m).
